Welcome back to Workout of the Week! This is How to Move’s weekly premium post, with a workout in both video and written+gif form you can customize to fit the amount of time and energy you have.
You can always skip the warmup or cooldown, and you have the option to do 1, 2, or 3 rounds of the strength circuit depending on how much time and energy you have. Make this work for you.
This week, I’m encouraging you to use dumbbells — or, if you don’t have them, a heavy water bottle, a bottle of wine or jug of detergent, or even a pet or small child, if they’ll cooperate. The possibilities are endless! If you don’t have any of these options handy, you can try the exercises sans weights (just try to squeeze and activate your muscles as you move), or skip back to the first or second week, when we didn’t use equipment.
Also, yes, I totally forgot the bent-over rows on the first round of the video. The fun of live television! (AKA filming by myself when time is limited and I don’t have the chance to go back and reshoot. Eek!) If you’re following along with the video, take a pause after the first round of skater jumps and do a minute of bent-over rows (details below). Or just skip ‘em.
Ready? Let’s go.
