Excellent exploration of the evidence paired with practical advice. I agree that lifting close to failure creates opportunity to listen to your body and focus on form. People are always worried they will get hurt by lifting heavier, but I see a lot of people risking injuries at the gym by lifting lighter weights for fast reps with poor form.
