A 23-minute strength circuit to celebrate the end of the January from hell

We made it, friends. Let's lift some heavy sh*t.

Wow, we made it to February.

The past couple of weeks have honestly been so much darker than I even predicted (and I knew it’d be bad). I’m genuinely scared for my immigrant friends and neighbors as well as my queer and trans friends. And everyone’s safety feels at risk when basic systems we take for granted (like those that take care of aviation safety?!?!) are being ripped apart with no backup plan.

Anyway. That’s not what this newsletter is about, but if you’re reeling, I see you. I’m frankly a little relieved that Try January is over, because I can’t think of a worse month (maybe March or April 2020?) to attempt to kickstart new, supportive habits. I did okay (full reflection post coming soon) but it was a real slog, and I’m really just proud that I managed to take decent care of myself and my family (and that I have the resources and luxury to do so) amidst all of this.

But you’re here to exercise. I’d like to encourage you to take a moment and let yourself be proud of that. It’s not easy in the best of times to make time for movement, but if you approach it mindfully it can be such a helpful tool for feeling at least a little better, at least for a while. (That whole annoying thing about how moving your body really does make a difference, ugh. Right,

?)

OK, grab your dumbbells and mat, and let’s go. No political talk in this video, I promise: just 23 minutes to move and feel really good.
