How to Move

How to Move

I finally decided to deal with my varicose veins. It did not go smoothly.

The medical rollercoaster I've been on — and the valuable movement lesson I learned from it all

I’ve been on a real medical rollercoaster for the past few weeks. (Years?) It took me to a heavy place earlier this month, including when it came to my ability to exercise, and I started to write about it, but then I didn’t have anything useful to say. Just a lot of sadness and anxiety and sort of being the human shrug emoji. The story wasn’t over, and I was stuck.

But now I’m grateful to say that I’m much closer to a conclusion — both to the medical stuff and to the emotional, instructional, life-lesson takeaway — and I’m ready to jump in.

I’ll tell you the whole story, but will start by saying that if vein stuff freaks you out (same), this one may not be for you. Nothing really bad happens! I never actually even see any blood! But…ick, kind of, nonetheless. (On the other hand, if you have vein issues and have been curious about what it might look like to do something about them, you may find it all useful.)

I’m also going to put this behind a paywall because I’m sharing some rather personal bodily and medical information. I haven’t done this in a long time, but I think it’s a reasonable boundary, and I hope you understand!
